A novel structure for organic EL devices
Fabrication of Organic EL Devices by Surface-Initiated Living Radical

We invented a new device structure for organic EL displays and lightnings.
Organic EL devices are expected for next-generation displays.  The technology can be also applied for white-colored lightnings.
One of the present problems in organic EL is the life-time of the devices.  Due to the delamination between the electrode and organic layers, formation of pinholes, and crystallization, the quality of the devices deteriorates after the period of time.
We found a new approach to solve the problem by introducing surface-initiated living radical polymerization for the device fabrications.  By this method, novel organic EL devices are fabricated, which are expected to have excellent qualities and long life-times.
