Signals via full-RAGE have cytotoxic effects in various disorders. Secretory-form splicing variant, esRAGE competes with full-RAGE for the ligands, and have cytoprotective effects.
Drugs that induce esRAGE and/or suppress full-RAGE expression can be promising candidates for the preventive/therapeutic medicines for a variety of RAGE-related disorders.
We have developed a reliable qRT-PCR system for esRAGE and full-RAGE for the drug discovery.
