Anti HCV Drug Target in Host protein: PA28γ
The inhibitor of PA28g can be the promising new drug candidate of novel approach

Background
HCV infects 170 million people worldwide and frequently leads to cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma.  Even most prevailing treatment (IFN-alpha plus ribavirin) is only effective for about half of the patients. Apart form vaccines, current drug development approaches are targeting virus protease or polymerase. But the effect of these approaches will be limited because HCV has strong gene mutation ability and likely to acquire drug resistance.
