Novel Glucose Derivative Inducing Apoptosis, Process for Producing The Same, and Use Thereof as Medicine
Apoptosis inducible Glucose derivative

FIELD
     Medicine, Biotechnology
KEYWORDS
     Apoptosis, Glucose derivative

ADVANTAGES
The new acetal derivative of glucose in which this invention has apoptosis induction ability,
The disease which can expect to treat and/or prevent by deriving apoptosis in detail about
the medicine which contains the manufacturing method and this as an active principle,
For example, it is related with the use as the new molecular entity which is an acetal derivative
of glucose effective in the remedy and/or preventive medicine of autoimmune diseases,
such as a tumor, polyposis coli, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus,
a viral infectious disease, and an inflammatory disease, its manufacturing method,
     and its medicine.

ABSTRACT
A novel glucose derivative inducing apoptosis. The glucose derivative is represented by the following general formula (I) wherein X, Y and Z are the same or different and each is hydrogen, halogenoalkyl, hydroxy, or alkoxy, provided that not all of X, Y and Z are hydrogen; R1, R2, and R3 are the same or different and each is hydrogen or acyl (COR4), provided that not all of R1, R2, and R3 are hydrogen; and R4 is an (un)saturated, linear or branched, C3-25 hydrocarbon group. The glucose derivative selectively induces apoptosis in unnecessary or pathogenic cells. It is hence useful as a medicine for the treatment and/or prevention of diseases attributable to the cells.
