Modified Protein Therapeutics
Enhanced TNFα Receptor

Field
It is expected to be used as medical drugs, more specifically as therapeutic agents for
     inflammatory diseases or autoimmune diseases.

Keywords
     TNFα receptor,  Antibody drug

Advantages
The antibody drugs for treating rheumatic diseases have a huge market potential and it is
possible for a single drug product to return over 500 billion yen. Consequently, competition is
extremely fierce. With our new idea, we have successfully improved the stability of CDC and
ADCC activity by obtaining the receptor to dually bind to the Fc portion of the antibody.

Abstract
A huge market has been formed with anti-IL6 and anti-TNFα antibodies used as antibody drug products for treating rheumatic diseases. Many applications that target the field of TNFα have been filed for patents, however, this invention was completed with the idea of effectively using TNFα by binding it to the Fc portion of the antibody to improve CDC and ADCC activity. No other patents have been found that focus on the receptor as ours does. We filed a provisional U.S. patent application (June 30, 2010). We will request an examination after filing the PCT application.
