The gene FLO2 which controls the whole sugar metabolism at upstream
A Novel Factor FLOURY ENDOSPERM2 is Involved in Regulation of Rice Grain Size and Starch Quality

Field
     Agronomy,   genetics, environmentology

Keywords
Plant biomass, Global warming, Storage starch and protein, Heat tolerant plants, Screening method

Advantages
The gene FLO2 regulates various gene functions that are involved in the production of
plant storage materials, therefore, by enhancing the functions, FLO2 is expected to improve
the quality of plant "seed" and enlarge seed, leading to technology for high-yield and
high-quality grain production, i.e., production of heat-tolerant rice and high-yield
     plant biomass.

Abstract
Prof. Hiroaki Shimada found "FLORY ENDOSPERTM2 (FLO2)", an epistatic gene that generally regulates storage materials in plant seeds and biosynthesis systems.
